Offers of help for women

There are support facilities and services for women in almost every city. Women’s shelters and advice centers take care of those affected who are exposed to violence, are overwhelmed by pregnancy, have become victims of forced marriage, or must deal with the trauma of flight or the loss of loved ones together with their children. LingaTel has been particularly active in this area for many years and has a great deal of experience in supporting women’s aid services and facilities with experienced telephone and video interpreters. It is particularly important here that only female interpreters are used to offer the women concerned the most comfortable environment possible, to allay their fears and to ensure the necessary openness. The social and intercultural skills of the interpreters are also particularly important here, and LingaTel attaches great importance to this. Empathy and resistance to stress also characterize the colleagues deployed in this demanding field.

Women’s shelters are facilities that provide protection and temporary accommodation for women with and without children, counseling and anti-violence work. The help offered ranges from crisis intervention and counseling sessions to support and assistance with further life planning.

All women affected and threatened by physical, psychological and sexualized violence and their children can make use of the services, regardless of their origin, residence status or financial means. To ensure that foreign language skills are not an obstacle, many women’s shelters use LingaTel’s telephone and video interpreting service. The interpreters are specially trained for use in women’s aid and can be called in spontaneously for conversations.

Women’s advice centers offer women advice and information in every situation. The range of advice is varied and covers everything from violence in a relationship to questions about separation/divorce and general life decisions. The needs, interests and right to self-determination of the women seeking help are at the forefront of counseling.
